Workout Cards to Make Exercise Over the Holidays Easier

I originally shared this post prior to the crazy fun of the holidays that can sometimes derail your exercise schedule. When your intervals turn into buffet hopping and Nutcracker rehearsals, retail therapy and decorating time can get away from you. It’s potentially no less true during summer when you’re still going in five directions and really just want to go out and play! (or sit still in a deck chair) 

First things first. If you’re on the road going over the hills-and-through-the-woods or just sitting a lot more than you’d like any given day these stretches are going to come in handy.  Maybe it’s work or travel or visiting with others, sitting is an energy killer and makes you feel less like moving.These three stretches are multitasking, kinetic chain stretches. That means for you? Efficiently and more effectively stretching your body in a smart way.

Next up, say you get out of the car or plane (with all that lovely leg room) or out of the office and you’ve got a “little catch.” After you do the stretches above, try these to engage your deep core muscles. It’s like pulling on a girdle except you can still breath. OK, I am guessing, I’ve never honestly even had Spanx on. I have however, wrestled into panty hose with support tops in junior high. Somewhere therein might have been the motivation to pursue fitness but I can’t be sure.

Standing with weight on both legs, measure halfway between knee cap and hip flexor

Right Calf
Standing with weight on both legs, find the largest point of calf.
